News and events

Fall Book Sale on Saturday November 11 from 10 am to 1pm at Accomac Library

Books will be priced from 50 cents to $2.00. Come and browse our great selection of books and enjoy some free refreshments. We will be selling our popular Book Bags at a discount or buy $20 of books and get one free. Free monthly planners, coloring books, pencils and pens, drinks and cookies.

Get an early start on Christmas shopping with our book bags and even books! We are hoping to beat last year's sales.

Santa at the Library on Saturday December 9 from 10 am to noon at Accomac Library.

Our annual visit from Santa will occur this year on December 9 from 10AM to Noon. Santa will have a book for each child from age newborn to 12. He will give a candy cane to all believers. Santa has an outstanding record of "no tears" visits—he has NEVER cried and very few kiddies have either. Bring your camera to capture the event for your family. Santa takes all the time you need to get your shot (and for your believers to give him your list to take back to the North Pole.) Last year, 93 children got a book from Santa. We hope to break 100 this year.

The Firecracker Book Sale was, once again, a successful, fun event. The first hour-before the parade, was a crush. Some of the books left from that sale will be on a sale table until August 12. Then we will turn over the stock on the tables to discards from the library collection that you can buy at really low bargain rates.

Our next book sale will be Saturday November 11 from 10am to 1pm. We will have our popular free daily planners as well as pens and book bags. If you would like to help with this book sale (and get a preview of the books) please call Judy at 757-789-7733.

Latest Accomplishments - making access to the Library easier.

Picture of powered door opener.

Easier access for everyone to everything our Library can offer. - Automatic doors were installed to make access to the Accomac Library easier for everyone. It is amazing how many people use the button! Patrons with armfuls of books were using their elbow, small children were asking if it was their turn to open the door, other patrons were using it to help elderly folks come in and out, as well as people on crutches, walkers, canes and in wheelchairs.

E-books. - You can now download e-books and audio books from the Libraries website. The Friends recently gave a donation to the ESPL to help underwrite the cost of the E-Books subscription and equipment. This is an expensive undertaking but was in demand from many patrons so the Trustees of the Library authorized the subscription. Go to to find out more or call (757) 787-3400.
